A Little About Myself.
Hello! I’m Cate and this is us welcoming our baby, Freyja, 3 weeks early… That was 8 weeks ago now and this blog is about our journey to that point and our adventures in parenting moving forwards. Between us, we have 5 kiddos… Baby Freyja has 2 older sisters, 17 & 14 and 2 older brothers 11 & 9.
I’ll cover what it’s like to be pregnant in your forties and how that happened naturally, what it’s like to have a fourth c-section and the recovery, baby jaundice and Freyja being admitted to the hospital and much, much more. Sprinkle in some product reviews and giveaways, preschooler lesson plans and crafts, and that’s our little blog in a nutshell. |
About Us.
M and I first met when we worked for the same company in Ann Arbor MI, back in 2001. Relationships came and went and we remained in touch and good friends. In 2014, we finally admitted to each other that there’s more to our relationship than “just friends” and we’ve been living together and a couple ever since... some things are worth waiting for.
Now, as you can imagine, we’re not your typical “American” family. For starters I’m from England, born and raised, and even though I’ve been over here since 1997, I still have quite the British accent. M on the other hand is the “all American boy”, all 6’2” of him… Chicago born and bred, and of Swedish/Polish decent. This post originally said "we’re not married", but on August 20, 2017, we officially tied-the-knot. Between us we have 5 amazing children. H [17], C [14], A [11] and J [9], and we just welcomed a baby girl "Freyja" on October 12. |
Now that may not be the news of the decade, but both M and I are over 40 and have waited 16 years to be parents together.
As you can see there is quite the age gap between our eldest and youngest... we’ll have one in diapers and one in college, with 3 in-between and, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We also have 3 fur-babies, Gus [schnoodle], Pixie [golden retriever] and Odin [the polydactyl cat and a souvenir from our time living in FL] Our adventures as a family that began in Florida, has come full circle to within 30 mins of where we first met in Michigan. This blog is to chronicle our journey of becoming parents again in our 40s and all the adventures we’ll have along the way. |
P.S. Why is this site called “Red Wellies”? ~ answer in the blog!
